About World Walking

Walker

Our aim is simply to motivate.

World Walking invites you to find fun in fitness and reap the benefits of a healthier, active lifestyle.

There many upshots to getting up and about, like reducing your risk of heart disease and helping you keep to a healthy weight and shape, but exercising a positive attitude and a little spirit of adventure can do wonders too. Yep, walking does as much for your mind as it does your body.

And this is where World Walking really comes into its own. Offering you goals to aim for and promoting a sense of purpose and community.

Be inspired, stay motivated and keep fit.

Inverclyde Globetrotters

In February 2008, a small group of people with heart disease, armed with just a map and a box of pedometers, set off to walk around the world in support of the 2008 Scottish campaign to highlight the importance and benefits of cardiac rehabilitation.

Since they took their first steps, their ‘travels’ have taken them to more than 100 countries worldwide, across all continents, and all without ever having left their hometown of Greenock.

On 14 May 2019, the Inverclyde Globetrotters ‘reached’ the Moon. Their epic 238,855 mile journey took just 11 years, 3 months and 10 days. They have now walked over 250,000 miles
