Mental illness affects countless individuals throughout the world, and I believe it needs to be talked about so people are empowered to care for their mental health. I have been personally touched by mental illness through my two sisters. My middle sister has been diagnosed with bipolar II and OCD and has struggled with self-harm and suicidal ideation since the age of 8. However, I am proud to say that she is currently in recovery and living a successful life. More recently, my youngest sister has begun experiencing her own troubles related to her mental health and is still trying to find her way. Overall, mental illness has made a huge impact on my whole family. As a result, I am committed to spreading awareness and supporting NAMI St. Louis in providing mental health resources to those in need. That's why I helped launch the NAMI St. Louis Young Professionals Board and created this NAMIWalks team.
NAMI is the nation's largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to improving the lives of individuals and families affected by mental illness. NAMIWalks promotes awareness of mental health, raises funds for NAMI’s free, top-rated programs, and builds community by letting people know they are not alone.
