Welcome to Lapland.
Congratulations on completing your challenge! We hope you have enjoyed it. Thank you for taking part.
Lapland is the largest and northernmost region of Finland. With just 3% of the population it is, the country’s least densely populated area.
Lapland borders the region of North Ostrobothnia in the south as well as the Gulf of Bothnia, Norrbotten County in Sweden, Troms and Finnmark County in Norway, and Murmansk Oblast and the Republic of Karelia in Russia.
The biggest towns in Lapland are Rovaniemi, Tornio, and Kemi. The largest lake is Lake Inari, the third-largest in Finland.
The Arctic Circle crosses Lapland, so phenomena such as the Midnight Sun and Polar night can be seen.
With its cold and wintry climate and its conifer trees, Lapland has become associated with Christmas. Symbols of Lapland include its reindeer.
Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy and Healthy New Year.
