World Walking is proud to support Fit in ’14; the Scottish Government’s nationwide campaign to encourage organisations and employees to take small, simple steps towards leading a healthier, more active lifestyle in 2014

Welcome to all World Walkers from the many Fit in ’14 active organisations.  Thank you for taking part.  It’s great to have you with us.

Another stunning new destination to tempt you with!  The famous Garden Route; a stunning walk along the very southern tip of Africa looking out across the ocean with nothing between you and Antarctica. Just the place to go to shake off the winter blues.

TAKE 30: The Ramblers Scotland guide to walking for health and fitness.  TAKE 30 provides a great resource with lots of useful information on the health benefits of walking and ideas for walks in Scotland.  Why not download the 12 week walk programme and explore some great short walks (Medal Routes) currently being mapped across Scotland?

Remember to TAKE 30 most days!

Looking for an additional challenge?  Why not take part in the 5x50 Challenge by using your World Walking steps?

The 5x50 Challenge launched in 2012 as a new charity challenge encouraging people to get off their couch to run, walk, jog or cycle 5 km every day for 50 days with the aim of changing peoples' exercise habits for a lifetime and their lives forever. Like World Walking, this Challenge started with a vision to make exercise part of everyone's daily life. Not everyone will run a marathon however anyone can complete the 5x50 Challenge and experience the physical and psychological benefits that come from taking part.

To date, Challenges have attracted nearly 10,000 participants from 43 countries and raised over £160,000 for various charities. Go on! Have a go.

Another new walk on World Walking!  We're always looking for something a little different.  We think we have with Morocco; a exotic blend of Africa and Europe.  A land of snow capped mountains and desert.  Just the place to shake of any winter blues!

Looking for a real challenge for your group?  World Walking has the very thing.  Journey around the World with the Queen's Baton Relay as it is carried through 70 countries from India to Scotland to mark the 2014 Commonwealth Games.  A route for World beaters!  Let the Games begin.

Best Wishes for a Happy and Healthy New Year to all World Walkers.

The Commonwealth Games are heading back to Scotland in July 2014 and we couldn't just resist the temptation to celebrate by replicating the Queen's Baton Relay route on World Walking. It's massive! - 11 stages, 70 countries, 136,000 kilometers.  We'll be launching it in January.  If you're up for a challenge then it's time to get your team together.

Thanks to Kate McCheyne at Glasgow 2014 for the smashing photograph of the Baton in Papua New Guinea.

We've added a new silver medal route to World Walking; Japan, the Land of the Rising Sun.  A land where ancient and modern exist side by side.  A walk that takes in some of the Japan's most famous icons.  We hope you like it.
